Wilfred's Wonderland - Masset
Wilfred's carving shed is located in a veritable hobbit-land, with little statues punctuating every turn in the garden, and all window frames, banisters, gable-ends etc. carved out. The carving shed is carpeted with shavings and pungent with the smell of cedar and oil. You can spend time chatting and sniffing and caressing the bowls and spoons, and admiring the various items, all of which are obviously hand-carved and whimsically lopsided and off-centre, adding to their beauty and value. A fairy-tale shopping experience seldom found elsewhere.
Ongoing Community Events
Are featured in the local paper, including Canada Day and Masset Harbour Day celebrations, as well as various unscheduled native potlatches and fund-raising lunches and dinners, open to the public, at which you can sample traditional Haida fare at bargain prices.
